Coming Home

Sam Beckett woke with a start, which was often the case when he leaped into a sleeping person. The room smelled of stale sex, and even staler smoke. He rubbed his face and sat up, hoping to orient himself. The room had modern, even pseudo-futuristic, furnishings. It wasn’t his style.

He lifted the black satin sheet and looked down. He was male, and naked.

"Hey, you’re up!" Al Calavicci exclaimed from the doorway. But there was no white square around him.

In a rush, he remembered: the mingled tastes of beer and cigar, Al moving over him.

He was home.

Evidently My Dear Watson

"It’s no use," said Mr. Sherlock Holmes. "To solve this case, I must employ the microscope you purchased for me."

I started, but did not protest. Wondering if he had spoilt every childhood birthday, I fetched the box from its hiding place. Re-entering the room, I ventured, "How did you know? I took every pre-caution."

Holmes took possession of the box with a self-satisfied smile. "The man who purchased this hesitated outside the shop for over thirty minutes. As he contemplated, he smoked."

I sighed. "You knew my brand."

"My dear Watson, no one is more familiar with your ash."

Okay, I'm doing this for two reasons: 1) I really wanted a particular drabble from watergal and 2) I need to snap out of my writing funk (i.e., bemoaning the fact that I'm not writing instead of doing something about it.)

Every person on your flist gets to request a drabble (real drabble:100 words exactly) from you. In return, they have to post this in their journal and write a drabble for you. Post all fandoms in which you're willing to write.

Your friends can pick a relationship, a story arc, a missing scene, or pretty much anything they want, unless the author has previously mentioned that they will not write it. They comment with what they want, and you write drabbles and post it in your LiveJournal.

For good or ill, you only have eight little fandoms to choose from, so I don't expect to get many takers. All drabbles will be written and posted between this coming Thursday through Monday (my Easter vacation!).
