I scored three Spider-man novels by Diane Duane from a library $2/bag sale, for my nephew.

I found 2 K/S zines I didn't know I had: First Time #6 and IceFire. I need to read them (after Alien Brothers) and pass them on. Any takers? ([info - personal] watergal? [info] spikedd?)?

Related to that, I went through some of my old K/S story-notes and put them through the shredder. The shredder! They were that bad.

Finally, I found my copy of Caleb Carr's Sherlock Holmes pastiche "The Italian Secretary." I loved "The Alienist," passed it around my family, so I had really high expectations for Carr's take on Holmes. I have never been so disappointed. I hated this book so much by page 50 that I started writing post-it notes to myself and slapping them on the most offensive pages. In case anyone's interested:

Too disjointed to be spoilery. )

I got myself a , which I first heard about thanks to [info]kyuuketsukirui. I hope to use it to keep track of the books I want to read (read: check out of the library). I've always kept paper lists of books I want to read. I invariably lose them. I've even tried keeping a notebook, but I end up having a few going at once and misplacing the one I want at any given time. More recently, I tried adding the books I want to read to my Amazon wish list, but then I was afraid I'd actually end of getting them as gifts. I wouldn't want someone to waste their money on something that turns out to be crap. (Yeah, I know I could set up other lists on Amazon, but they're still called wish lists.)

I hope this thing works out.

[info]aerye must have been in the air today. At least, she was much on my mind. (I won't say why.)

At any rate, whether I actually heard her whisper in my ear or she's worn me down with her ear-splitting squee's, I picked up Rex Stout's (Nero Wolfe) "Death of a Doxy" and "The Rubber Band" in our local used bookstore this afternoon. (A steal at 50 cents each. And I can't find any Stout in the libraries around here anymore.)

They're next on my reading list.
If Watson doesn't kill me first.
