I thought I would ask here, because with this sort of question it is always best to ask the opinion of fans; I have a little bit of a problem. I have a copy of the Complete Sherlock Holmes stories which has been with me for many years, but it in fact belongs to my brother. So far this has not been a problem. However, since he will be moving away in the next few years he will probably be wanting it back - which means I'll be looking for a new edition of Holmes.

So I ask: Which, in your opinion, would you say was the best Complete Sherlock Holmes to get? I'm not after annotated or anything fancy; just a nice edition of the stories. Any guidance in this will be much appreciated.

Knockout is an Autobot from the movie prequel “The Veiled Threat.” I’ve never read this novel, but wanted to use an actual RotF Autobot, so I chose him and based his personality on the little blurb about him at the wiki. If any one has read this and that is not what he’s actually like, please let me know.

The dynamic duo is featured again in this chapter and, yeah, they so are.

Okay, sorry for posting again so soon, but I have another two weird requests.

First, does anyone know of any fics where transformers new to Earth are terrified of the rain, or think it will be acid, or melt them or something?

Second (very much like the first) any fic involving the first introduction/encounter between a 'bot and an organic. Because they're funny. (Like the Elite Guard or This is Why I Hate Machines from TF:A, or any old "meet the giant alien robots, please don't scream")

I just returned from taking my mom to the Washington Balalaika Society's concert. She's not interested in collecting stuff for her birthday, so I bought her a ticket to the show. It was fun and the musicianship was of very high quality, but I did have a moment of cultural disjunct when all these balalaikas and domras are playing a piece by a Frenchman, Milhaud, that has a distinctly Brazilian beat. Weird.

I've been a bit under the weather lately, and hope to shake it soon. I don't have time to be sick. There's too much to be done!

I'm looking for a fic featuring some really minor characters: the Decepticon Air Strike Patrol. I'm looking for any fanfic with Tailwind in it, but he's not even listed in the character list at ff.net...

So...any help, or is he too minor?

Maybe sometime I'll tell you about today's cavedive. The short version is that if you are ever on Cozumel and a guy named Diego asks you if you want him to take you though the Yucab [underwater] cave system, SAY NO AND RUN FAR AWAY as fast as your legs will carry you. Unless you like 30min hikes in full cave gear, in 80 degree heat/humidity, on an imaginary path, through the mosquito infested jungle where his buddy got dengue last year so won't go any more.

But enough of that. As for the past two nights...

Okay, by writing this I am most likely ensuring that no-one is ever going to talk to me again, but I don't care. I'm desperate. What I'm looking for is simple, and yet so hard to find: I'm looking for fic that portrays Beast Wars Scorponok in a positive light. I don't care if he's not the main character. I don't care if it's a Mary Sue fic. I don't care if he's only there for all of 3 lines. I just want a fic, any fic, where he's treated with the respect that the slagging 2IC should get automatically. I want a fic that shows that, yeah, he may not be as flamboyant as all the others, be he does in fact exist,and not as a punching bag, as an actual, three dimensional character. Is that really a hard request? I mean, even Skids and Mudflap have fans. In short: I'm the only BW!Scorponok fangirl there is, and I am flailing in the dark in hopes of finding another.

Yes, I realize that no-one's going to respond, and that I just signed my Virtual Death Warrent. I could care less. It's not much to ask for.

A small number of accounts had mail that was unable to be moved over to new hardware before we had to power down the last of our servers and move them out of the old data center. For now we are setting up those users (without the data) on the new system so they should still be functional and we’ll be working on restoring the data once we have moved the servers (the data is not lost, just not currently available). We apologize for this – we understand how important mail is and wanted to reassure those effected that we’re aware of the matter and are working to correct it.

There's been a lot of conversation about the 50 Top Grossing Films of the Decade, much of it centering around how few of these films are original screenplays—they're mostly either based on a book/comic/ride at Disneyworld, or a sequel. The other side fo this, of course, is that it was ever thus—Gone with the Wind is still the top grossing film of all time when adjusted for inflation, and it's based on a book. The Sound of Music was a Broadway show based on a book. So I'm not sure that's so damning. Also, a lot of the sequels are really movies based on book series—HP and LotR. So all those people can just calm down. They're popcorn movies.

The other big trend is that so many of them are kid's movies. But really I think what's going on is that a lot of them are effects movies, which means you actually want to see them in a theater instead of waiting for Netflix. Also these are global grosses—I say this to forestall my fellow Trek-fans, as Trek as a franchise never does well overseas for whatever reason.

(Yes, there was also the conversation about the decade not ending in 2009, but we had that conversation in 1999, and the pedants lost out to the thrill of the odometer rolling over. Maybe we should just ask the Pope to shove in a year 0 and make everyone happy.)
